Empowerment through Awareness, Protection through Law

Knowledge is not only power — it is the foundation of justice. Every citizen of Pakistan has the right to live with dignity, equality, and safety. Through this section, YPEOP aims to educate individuals — especially women, youth, and vulnerable communities — about their legal rights, the laws that protect them, and the resources available to seek justice. Your voice matters. Your safety matters. And above all, your rights matter.

1. Workplace Harassment

i. First Understanding Your Right
Every working individual has the absolute right to perform their duties in a safe, respectful, and dignified environment. Harassment — whether verbal, physical, psychological, or online — is a serious violation of your personal and professional rights.

ii. Legal Protection
The Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 provides a complete legal framework to ensure that no one is subjected to inappropriate conduct, intimidation, or discrimination in professional spaces.
Under this Act:

  • Every organisation is required to form an Internal Inquiry Committee.
  • The Committee must include both male and female members to ensure fairness.
  • Complaints must be dealt with in confidentiality and without retaliation.

If You Experience Harassment

Follow These Steps:-

  • Document everything — date, time, place, and any witnesses.
  • Immediately file a written complaint to your organisation’s Inquiry Committee.
  • If your organisation fails to take action, you can directly approach the Ombudsperson Office in your province.
  • You are protected by law from being fired or victimised for speaking up.
